Such an articulate and inspiring article! You share your entrepreneurial spirit with perfect timing, as start ups are quickly becoming the forces to be reckoned in this staggering market. Yourself and other pioneers share your courage through sharing your story with those of us who may be sitting here thinking they may have a great idea or have amazing skills that are completely under utilized in the 9-5 environment. Well done Ms. McGough

I've watched Andrea grow through the entire process outlined in her article and everything she's saying is true. This is not to say that the work was easy. It's hard to listen to people without getting your own filters in the way. Andrea is an excellent listener as well as a hard-working entrepreneur. Bravo!

Yes! Diversity, inclusiveness, and collaboration are the key to building a strong entrepreneurial community regardless of race, country or creed. Just as we need male support and acceptance to create more female entrepreneurs, we need all races to support attempts to increase racial diversity. Thank you for writing this!

I'm currently making this transition myself and wish that more people in the non-profit world could see the importance of profit, especially for the sustainability of their projects. Start-up and non-profit people share so many of the same qualities but they don't cross paths often enough!

Excellent article. I started an organization called StartupBlack and found it hard to express similar missions. People would ask if it was just for blacks and I'll be like of course not, we welcome all but we just trying to increase diversity in the startup world. I like how you explained it as a hub for the black community but push them to reach out to other communities.
